An (incomplete) black lipstick review index

So this is a list of every black lipstick I've ever tried in no particular order, and my thoughs on each one

• Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Finish Lipstick - Pitch Black

  4/10. Not very pigmented, disappointing because Maybelline lipsticks are usually pretty good. Have to keep reapplying and does fade very easily, doesn't stick to the inside of the lip, so it leaves an unsightly pink halo on the inner corners of your lips, and (kind of nit-picking) more of a satin than a matte. Although it's rather easy to remove and doesn't stain, so it's forgiving of mistakes, it isn't enough for a proper redemption. If you are not an absolute beginner, definitely pick a different black bullet lipstick

• NYX Lip Lingerie XXL - Naughty Noir

  7.5/10. Would be 8 but I hate the name. Otherwise, damn near transfer-proof, almost completely opaque, definite matte. Although it is sort of sticky once dry, takes longer than I'd like to dry, and smells overwhelmingly of vanilla extract (down to the odor of alcohol), it's pretty hard to remove (I had to use two rounds of oil-based cleanser). If this is one's first encounter with NYX liquid lipstick (or liquid lipstick at all), you may need some practice with the applicator. All in all, an high-quality, affordable black lipstick.
